Spa Yum Bus with Pavel Maurer

Weekend February 4-5 (departure on Saturday at 11:00 from Prague, planned arrival on Sunday around 17:30)
Medité, Gourmet Restaurant (Villa Patriot), Quisisana Palace

We will start the two-day expedition with a Spanish-style lunch in Mariánské Lázně. Subsequently we will enjoy an early-evening city tour and accommodation in the romantic Villa Patriot. Our evening dining experience will be rich and at the end of the day we will treat ourselves to a wine tasting. On the second day after breakfast we will move on to Karlovy Vary. We will try the springs with healing power, hear curious stories and dine in a charming residence on the river bank. Pavel Maurer will entertain us with his presence during the whole trip.

Saturday February 4
Meeting at 11:00 and departure for Mariánské Lázně, meeting point will be specified.

1. Medité

  • Cold tapas variation – pan y tomate with jamón serrano (tomato toast with two-year-old Spanish ham), queso Lavrus with quince jelly with walnuts (1.5 year matured sheep cheese from Salamanca), home-made marinated olives
  • Soup – sopa de langostinos (shrimp espresso)
  • Warm tapas – tortilla española al punto (Spanish potato pie prepared in a sauté pan), grilled champignons baked with Béchamel sauce, jamón serrano and sheep cheese, rillette de jabalí (roasted shredded boar leg with root vegetables and herb brioche), gambas al ajillo (shrimp roasted on lard from Iberian pig with garlic and chilli)
  • Dessert – crema catalana (Spanish predecessor of créme brulée)
The Yum Bus will take us from Prague to Mariánské Lázně where, according to the Spanish tradition, we will first enjoy a late lunch. Then we will enjoy the beauty of the spa town and move on to Villa Patriot where we will spend the night.
2. Gourmet Restaurant, Villa Patriot

  • Home-made veal aspic with marinated red onion and coarse-grain mustard dip al ancienne
  • Lamb shank roasted with garlic and rosemary, traditional “lepenice” mashed potatoes and sautéed vegetables
  • Old Bohemian shredded pancake with plum sauce
After dinner we will enjoy an entertaining wine tasting. On Sunday morning after breakfast we will take the Yum Bus to Karlovy Vary directly to the colonnade. We will try the renowned springs and the guide will tell us both historical and current interesting facts. A slow walk will take us to the Quisisana Palace.
3. Quisisana Palace

  • Amuse-bouche in the form of home-made champagne sorbet
  • Pumpkin-ginger cream with shrimp and sesame oil
  • Roasted pork tenderloin in a nut persillade with mushroom ravioli and roasted carrot purée
  • Braised pear in green tea with plum chilli chutney and mascarpone mousse
As part of the experience in a suite of the Quisisana Palace hotel we will find out about the still relevant genius loci of the summer residence of the families Pupp and Mattoni and about the hidden gems of Karlovy Vary. After lunch the Yum Bus will take us back to Prague.
